raised so far: $ My name is Katrina and I am 17 years old.
I just graduated from high school and I have wanted to be a part of this for quite
some time. I am going to try to make the story short but it is emotional so here
goes
I can remember several years ago my aunt Kathy showing me a
newspaper article telling about this group of girls who shaved their hair to benefit
cancer patients. She thought it was the coolest thing in the world and I agreed
those girls had to have a lot of courage to do something like that! I am not sure
how long after that, but all too soon we got the news that Kathy had leukemia
it has been nearly three years since Kathy passed away and I never forgot
that newspaper article. In May of last year Jade, the D.J. on my favorite radio
station (89.7 power fm) shaved her head and talked about it on air. I took a look
at the Shear Hope website and I knew that it was what God was calling me to do.
In April I went to East Texas Baptist University and tried
out for the Cheerleading squad, and to my surprise I made it! Though it was exciting,
it put a damper on my enthusiasm to shave my head
I was very worried that
it would affect my cheerleading, but after talking with the coach and the captain
of the squad, and getting their encouragement and prayers, I was back on a roll
and I am ready to be involved with this amazing mission
.I am counting down
the days until I shave my head and know that my aunt Kathy is watching down on
me, just brimming with excitement.
