October 2010 I went for a routine check-up and the doctor found a small, less
than square-inch affected area of cervical cancer that luckily was caught in the
earliest stage, stage 0. So I was able to go in 2 weeks later, having experienced
no chemo or radiation, just a simple 1 hour procedure that was practically painless.
It surprisingly left me feeling more alive than I ever had before the threat of
cancer even came into being. I consider myself the subject of a miracle, that
I have been given this blessing of a clean slate. Others, however, are not so
lucky. I have been growing my hair out since September of 2009 with the intention
of donating it, and the cancer scare that I had myself only increased my feeling
of joy at the thought of shaving my head for somebody out there who doesnt
have the chance that I did. I would expect someone to do the same for me. Kimberley's
Shear Hope event was held on Saturday, May 21st at 7pm at Chapel In The Woods
Bible Church, 3111 West Ledbetter Dr., in Dallas.
