raised so far: $ I first learned about Shear Hope two years
ago when my good friend Jade Clark held her event in the Spin Lounge, where Spin
180 broadcasts from. As I watched Jade shave her head completely bare, I just
felt an overwhelming sense of.... I guess you could say rightness, even though
that isn't really a word. She was doing something that was going to help someone
that really and truly needed help. I spent two years struggling with the idea
of shaving my head. I constantly thought about how people would react if they
saw me without hair. I sometimes hide behind my hair and I knew that if I cut
it off, I wouldn't have anything to hide behind. I was so worried about what others
would think that I never really made the effort to stay in contact with Jeffrey
and the Shear Hope Organization. I knew I wanted to shave my head for the cause,
but I wasn't sure if I was brave enough to follow through. Finally, after two
years, my friend Regina, also a hope giver, called me out of the blue and asked
me if I would be interested in shaving my head for an event on June 16th at the
Spot.Light.Show. At that moment everything in my head just clicked and I knew
that it was something I was called to do. I've always felt this need to help people,
yet haven't ever had something that I felt I could offer. But finally I had something
that I could share, something that would make a difference in others lives. Something
I could be proud of. Now, I can not wait for June 16th to get here! Sure I'm still
really nervous about what I'll look like with no hair. But in the end, that isn't
what is most important to me.
