raised so far: $ I heard about Shear Hope over the radio about
6 or 7 years ago during a time in which it was impressionable for me. My small
group leader at church was fighting breast cancer. So I knew, listening to the
radio testimony, that this was something I would eventually do. At that point
my hair was dyed and short. So, it's taken me all of this time to grow a head
of healthy, long hair. However, I feel that this event is falling at the perfect
time--during God's allotted time. I am most intent, of all life's things, on spending
the rest of my life learning to love Jesus and my Father more every hour. You
see, "God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still
sinners, Christ died for us" (Romans 5:8) so that "if you confess with
your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised Him from
the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9) from the guilt that has condemned
you. This was the ultimate Gift. "Come to Me all you who labor and are heavy
laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for
I am gentle and lowly in heart and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke
is easy and my burden is light" (Matthew 11:28-30). He is the Just One, but
His name is also Love. This is why I am choosing to give a small gift of my own
hair: As an action of love indifferent to what the rest of the world might think. Stephanie's
Shear Hope event will be held on Sunday, August 29th at the Windview Estates Clubhouse
in Colleyville. |
